A leaf on its own is nothing. But if you have two leaves, you're closer to having a foliage.

If you read the Bleach pilot chapter, you’ll know that Kubo is pretty pro-Ichihime.
What in the actual fuck…
Kubo discarded that. It’s not canon.
^^^Exactly.
The fact that he felt the need to re-write it should say something. Especially since it was re-written so that Orihime has gone from friend of a friend to good friend. If we’ve gone from the pilot to over four hundred chapters of final-product-Bleach and that’s all they still are, I’d say calling him pro-IchiHime’s a bit out there.
when he draws them alone on a beach with a chilled bottled drink in between them, come talk to me and we’ll see what couple he supports
I agree with you, PRN. Not many understand that a pilot chapter is simply an introduction chapter written for readers so they have an idea of what to expect of the series. Every manga ever written (One Piece, Gintama, TeniPuri, etc.etc. ) has diverted in varying degrees from its original pilot. A pilot was never meant to be a representation of the actual work. In Bleach’s case, it was never meant to be a substitute for the current story and it was never the ‘original intention’ of Kubo, especially not where shipping is concerned like so many IchiOri fans believe.
Also, Orihime died in the pilot and was sent to SS. They didn’t have a happy ending. So how is Kubo pro-IchiOri in the pilot? Makes.No.Sense, right? It’s not a problem if people decide to ship Pilot!Ichigo and Orihime even though she’s dead and he’s alive, but I find it hideously hypocritical that most of these people object to Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship based on the same reason: She’s dead and he’s alive.
As for the 10th anniversary calendar spread, I personally don’t like it - I’m possibly the only person or one of the very few in fandom who doesn’t like it, so I can say this. While Ichigo and Rukia are indeed the two main characters and it’s logical to feature them on it, why did Kubo draw them in such positions? Why did he choose such a backdrop for the both of them? Why didn’t Kubo draw Ichigo and Rukia playing badminton, maybe? Armwrestling? Moving furniture? Swordfighting? Sparring with each other? Since Bleach is SHOUNEN after all. Had this been SHOUJO, they would’ve been naked on a bed already, with sheets and some plumeria showers a la Usagi and Tuxedo Mask. WHY A BLOODY PICNIC ON TROPICAL BEACH?!?!
Oh, the ‘Ichigo-loves-no-one’ argument. I guess such a belief is necessary so that the hull doesn’t break and collapse for some people. I’m not even that great a fan of Kubo but I suddenly feel sorry for him and the work he puts into Bleach. Ichigo is not a robot. He is capable of feelings and emotions and most definitely love. He has never gotten mushy with his sisters nor with his father. Can anyone deny the love he has for them? If Ichigo regards a previous enemy like SS and people like Kenpachi and Byakuya as friends and allies now (despite them being cautious and wary of him), why would anyone think there is a limit to his feelings and perceptions towards a particular someone who has consistently provided him with physical, emotional and mental strength, and selflessly gave her life over and over to save his family, to save him and to save his friend, Orihime anyone else? To cage Ichigo in a category that claims he is incapable of love simply because he has not professed his feelings verbally to anyone, disregarding his actions, reactions, thoughts and feelings in its grand totality is selfish, obstinate and a travesty to his very character. To say Ichigo does not love anyone, has not loved anyone, or is incapable of loving anyone, is a belief tailored for one’s selfish needs in order to maintain cognitive consonance.
